Wound Care

Expertise and compassion to help you heal

Wound Care at Anna Jaques Hospital

At the Anna Jaques Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center in Newburyport, you receive exceptional care for nonhealing wounds. For more than 20 years, we’ve offered the latest treatments in wound therapy. That enables us to offer something more valuable — hope. We heal people with even the most challenging wounds, including some that have been treated for months or years and otherwise might have led to amputation. And we help improve quality of life. Let us do that for you.

Nationally Recognized Advanced Wound Care

At Anna Jaques Hospital, we provide hospital-based outpatient wound care and have a long track record of success. Our center was the first in Massachusetts to be fully accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. This speaks to our commitment to meeting the highest standards of care and patient safety.

Today, we proudly boast a healing rate of 95% for the wounds we treat. We consistently rank among the nation’s top wound clinics.

A Healing and Helping Environment

Healing is easier in the right environment, so we focus on providing you with the right care in the right setting. Our specially designed center features comfortable treatment rooms and an inviting consultation space. In addition, we’re equipped with a state-of-the-art hyperbaric chamber for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), a sophisticated treatment that delivers pure oxygen to chronic wounds and speeds up the healing process.

Of course, it’s our people that truly set us apart. Our experienced, caring wound care team includes expert physicians, registered nurses, certified hyperbaric technicians and therapists. They work together with one goal in mind — helping you heal.

What To Expect

Your primary care provider may refer you to us. You can also self-refer. We first ask you a few questions about your wound and your general health. Then, we schedule an appointment within two business days.

Your First Appointment

During your first visit, our doctors and nurses will evaluate your wound. We review your medical and patient history and discuss your general health. If needed, we order tests to get more information.

Based on what we learn, we develop a treatment plan just for you. From diabetic wound care to treatment of venous ulcers and bone infections, we have the expertise to address your needs. Along with HBOT, we offer many specialty services through Anna Jaques, including infectious disease care and plastic and reconstructive surgery.

What To Bring

Please bring the following to your first visit:

  • A list of current medications
  • Information about any allergies
