Patient Pain Rights & Responsibilities
Health care providers at Anna Jaques Hospital encourage patients to collaborate with their care team to reduce pain.
For those who suffer from ongoing pain, it can be hard to remember a time when aches, soreness, tingling or spasms didn’t impact daily life. This often results in physical, emotional, work, social and other life-changing problems for patients.
Research shows that over 50 million people in the United States have chronic pain. Any discomfort that is persistent and lasts longer than six months is usually considered chronic pain. This includes pain felt after you recover from injury or illness. Some chronic pain conditions arise from an unknown source.
Our pain management specialists can help you lessen and cope with chronic pain, enabling you to live a more active, productive and joyful life.
At the Comprehensive Pain Center, we take a personal and multifaceted approach to pain management. Our board-certified physicians and providers specialize in treatment plans tailored to your individual needs.
The main goal of our pain management practice is to partner with our patients to give evidence-based, cooperative care to ease or eliminate pain, while restoring function, well-being and overall quality of life. During your first appointment, we’ll assess your pain and medical history, review your current pain and complete a physical exam. Together, we will develop a personal treatment plan to manage your pain.
The Comprehensive Pain Center is a leading-edge facility designed to offer continuing care — all in one convenient location. This includes:

Medication compliance at the Comprehensive Pain Center is highly controlled and carefully monitored by a pain physician who is in close communication with your primary care physician.
Our pain management specialists use several medication options to treat chronic pain, often in conjunction with other treatments. Medication recommendations may range from over-the-counter options to prescriptions. To evaluate the best approach, your pain specialist will complete a thorough assessment.
When appropriate, one or a combination of these medication types may be suggested and/or prescribed with ongoing safety and compliance monitoring:
