Anna Jaques Hospital Among Nation’s Top Hospitals for 2025
Newburyport, MA – Anna Jaques Hospital has earned national recognition as a Top General Hospital for 2025 by The Leapfrog Group — one of only 52 hospitals in the United States (U.S.) to achieve this prestigious honor for exceptional patient safety and quality care.
Announced today, The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is among the most competitive distinctions in U.S. healthcare, recognizing hospitals and surgery centers that meet the highest standards for safety and quality.

More than 2,400 hospitals were considered for Top Hospital awards, with only 156 hospitals ultimately selected for the recognition across four categories: Top General, Children’s, Teaching and Rural hospitals.
This fall, Anna Jaques Hospital also earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group based on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems in place to prevent them.
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit watchdog organization that rates hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers on how well they protect patients from preventable harm, including accidents, injuries and infections. The Top Hospital methodology evaluates performance on infection rates, maternity care, medication safety and other critical standards.
