Get Help Paying Your Medical Bill

At Anna Jaques Hospital, we are committed to helping people in the communities we serve access the care you need. We offer free or discounted health services to people who cannot afford to pay.

Payments are expected 30 days from when you receive a bill. If you cannot pay in full by this date, please call our Patient Billing Office at 978-834-8300 for help.

Our Financial Assistance Policy

If you don’t have health insurance, a member of our financial counseling team can work with you. We help you learn if you’re eligible for financial help programs, free of charge.

We make it easy to apply for medical financial help, even if you have some insurance. Our financial counselors help you fill out forms needed for all financial assistance programs if you’re eligible. This service is free.

• Mount Auburn Hospital
• New England Baptist Hospital
• Winchester Hospital

Please note that certain physician groups providing care at Anna Jaques Hospital are not covered under our financial assistance policy.

Applying for State Medical Insurance

If you cannot pay for the cost of your care, we can help you apply for medical insurance through the state.

You can complete an application for insurance from the state of Massachusetts if your total family income is within:

• Income and resource standards set by the Massachusetts Department of Medical Security.
• Poverty guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Our financial counselors can help you complete the application through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts online web portal. The state decides if you qualify for MassHealth, Connector Care or the Health Safety Net (HSN).

Please note that if you qualify for the Health Safety Net Program (formally known as Free Care) the plan does not cover copayments, ambulance charges or home care fees.

Billing Questions

At Anna Jaques Hospital, we provide financial aid to all eligible patients who are:

• In need.
• Receiving medically necessary services.
• Residents of Massachusetts.

Your eligibility is based upon family income and the number of family members in the household.
