About Dr. Gurley
Dr. Kiersten L. Gurley is an Emergency Medicine Attending Physician at Anna Jaques Hospital. She previously was the Assistant QI Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Gurley is a magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University and received her medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine, where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Gurley completed her Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (HAEMR) at BIDMC, where she served as chief resident and was awarded both the MACEP and HAEMR/BIDMC graduating senior resident of the year awards as well as the HAEMR/BIDMC junior and senior resident research awards.
Dr. Gurley is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. A developing scholar, teacher, clinician, administrator, Dr. Gurley has lectured national and internationally on topics related to quality improvement, diagnostic error, medical malpractice and patient safety. Dr. Gurley has interest and expertise on the topic of neurologic emergencies, with a focus on the posterior fossae and misdiagnoses in particular. She is a published author and has contributed to textbooks as well as reviewed articles in this milieu.
