About Dr. Trask
Dr. Trask is a fellowship-trained, Canadian board-certified, and American board-eligible orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in hip and knee reconstruction and extremity trauma. He has experience in both standard and robotic knee replacement surgery, partial knee replacements, as well as complex knee revision that can be required in cases of infection, trauma, or worn-out prior joint replacement.
He is trained in all three standard hip approaches and can tailor the most appropriate approach and implant to the individual patient for hip reconstruction, as well as complex revision hip surgery. He has extensive trauma training, with experience at some of the busiest Level 1 trauma centers in North America, including Saint Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.
Dr. Trask completed his Bachelor of Science with honors at the University of Guelph, where he was a varsity athlete in the premier track and cross-country program. He completed medical school at Medical University of the Americas, where his clinical education was spread across the United States and Canada — giving him broad cultural and healthcare system experience in both countries.
He completed orthopedic residency at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Thunder Bay, Ontario, which is amongst the highest volume joint replacement centers in Ontario, Canada’s most populous province. He completed his adult hip and knee reconstruction fellowship training at the University of Ottawa under the guidance of world-renown hip and knee surgeons. Here, he gained extensive experience with the direct anterior approach to hip replacement, world-leading experience in hip resurfacing, as well as additional experience in hip and knee revision techniques.
Born and raised on the ocean in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Dr. Trask is very excited to grow roots in Massachusetts, his ancestral home. He brings with him three young children, his wife Allie, and two dogs. He is an avid sailor and skier and all-around sports fan. He has additional ongoing training as a "dance dad."
