Anna Jaques Hospital Earns Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation
National Recognition Reflects Commitment to Extraordinary Care of Region’s Older Adults
Newburyport, MA — Anna Jaques Hospital, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, has earned Level 3 (Bronze) Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
This national recognition underscores the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality, specialized emergency care for older adults throughout the region.

The voluntary GEDA program, developed by ACEP with support from the Gary and Mary West Health Institute and The John A. Hartford Foundation, recognizes emergency departments that implement best practices in caring for older adults. The accreditation signifies that the Anna Jaques Hospital Emergency Department has implemented essential geriatric-focused policies, staff education, and interdisciplinary care models that improve outcomes and patient satisfaction for aging patients.
ACEP’s GEDA program promotes a standardized approach to emergency care for older adults, focusing on improved transitions of care, enhanced staff training, geriatric-friendly care environments, and streamlined coordination with outpatient providers and community resources.
With this accreditation, Anna Jaques Hospital joins more than 580 hospitals nationwide recognized for advancing the quality and safety of emergency care for older adults.
